'A Hijacking': An Utterly Riveting Danish Hijacking Drama

Movie poster for the Danish film A Hijacking starring Pilou Asbæk and Søren Malling

"A Hijacking" (Kapringen) is a riveting Danish drama about a Scandinavian cargo ship, The Rozen, that is hijacked in The Gulf of Aden by Somali pirates demanding monetary reward for the crew member's lives.

Starring Pilou Asbæk (A War, Game of Thrones) as Hartmann, the ship's resident cook, 'A Hijacking' unfolds in a stark, utterly realistic manner over several weeks' time, as crew members suffer and executives painstakingly negotiate with the hijackers for the release of their countrymen.

From celebrated Danish filmmaker writer/director Tobias Lindholm (The Hunt, A War), "A Hijacking" serves as a riveting human drama and a high-intensity negotiation procedural that plays out like the tensest of human chess matches. Frightening, terse and increasingly anxiety-inducing, this one paints an honest portrait of a true-to-life hostage scenario in all of its complexity and heart-pounding trepidation.
